Reminders with Baba

We're thrilled to announce a feature our community has been asking for: smart medication and appointment reminders and notes, built right into Baba.

How It Works

Just tell Baba— over text or a phone call— about your upcoming appointments and medications. Whether it's a recurring therapy session, a procedure that needs prep work, or a daily medication schedule, Baba keeps track of it all. You can also share notes in real time for upcoming appointments, so you know exactly what to report to your doctors without having to keep track of writing it down.

"Hey Baba, remind me to take Tylenol at 9 a.m. each morning—and to tell Dr. Watson my knee still hurts on the stairs. That appointment is next Thursday at 3."

That's it. Natural, conversational, and designed to fit into your life exactly as it is.

Why It Matters

The numbers tell an important story: people who recieve daily medication reminders are less likely to have adverse health situations. From one study:

"Using the drug management [system] reduced adverse events including re-hospitalization due to disease aggravation and error in medication consumption, falling, hypo or hypertension, hypo or hyperglycemia, and promote medication use accuracy according to the pill count method."

Taking multiple medications— typically five or more— is so widespread among seniors that is has it's own medical term: polypharmacy. Research shows that approximately 45% of adults over 65 take at least five medications, compared to 27% of younger adults. While seniors often manage several health conditions that require multiple treatments, using many medications simultaneously creates significant risks, including:

  • medication interactions,

  • difficulty following treatment plans,

  • decline in mental sharpness and physical function, and

  • higher likelihood of weakness, falls, hospital stays, and death.

Multiple medications also increase the chances of taking drugs that may not be appropriate for a person's specific situation, which can lead to more emergency room visits and hospitalizations. The financial burden is substantial as well— patients managing multiple medications face healthcare expenses that are double those of patients on fewer drugs. This cost challenge is especially concerning given that roughly 1/3 of older Americans with chronic conditions already spend over 20% of their household income on medical expenses.

Staying on top of medications and appointments can make the difference between a fall and a hospital stay, and being able to join your family for a walk after Thanksgiving Dinner.
